About Simon Carney

Although in his 30s, Simon has a wealth of experience in the engineering and vehicle manufacturing industry. Working with and alongside well-known people and companies in the industry, he is experienced in all areas of the vehicle assembly process and the machinery used in the manufacture of vehicles and their components.

After studying A-level English language, psychology and music in Liverpool, Simon passed up the opportunity to study at university to complete his modern apprenticeship in sheet metal and heavy plate fabrication while working/training as a mechanical fitter in car factories across Europe for his father’s engineering company. This work included building production lines, heavy lifting with cranes/large fork-lift trucks and designing/manufacturing machinery to build cars.

Simon quickly learned the trade and was popular amongst the other tradesmen so earned a management role and became a site manager at the age of 21.

Simon’s ambitious nature lead him to open his own engineering company at age 23, which he grew and expanded in to other industries. His entrepreneurial aspirations lead Simon in to many industries, market sectors and countries over the next 10-years but Simon found himself back in the vehicle manufacturing industry where he found his engineering design and management skills worked best in the powertrain assembly area of the assembly process.

Simon formed Carney (UK) Ltd. in February 2014 which he intends to develop and grow to be a global supplier of powertrain assembly facilities and equipment.
